Recovery

As I slowly recover, I try each day to enjoy my horses. Rhett has been moved up front due to the cut on his front foot. Each day he has gotten better with me cleaning, scrubbing and bandaging his foot. My bond with him grows and I want more than ever to establish that trust and bond with him. He is beautiful, and strong but with constant work should come along. Then I decided that the babies needed some tarp training, so I laid the tarp out, and tough little Blondie followed me with no halter right on it. I loved all over her, and she followed me off and right back on.  Now big old Nemo he was not sure about this blue tarp, and it took lots of me talking to him and a halter and lead rope to get him to approach it. He finally stepped on it, and got a cookie for it, well he loved that so he followed me over it time and time again. I gave him lots of pats and words of praise. So then I decided to turn it over OH NO, different color and so much scarier. Oh Mom, please do not make me go over that silver tarp. After much love and manywalks around it, he finally stepped on it, stood there and realized it was not so bad. And that cookie in my hand said hey this works. So we walked over it again and again, and then I made him bow on it. Success, my little boy did it. His price just went up and as the trust between us grows,  it will be hard to ever let him go. He will keep learning to face his fears as I do each and every day
