In My Blood

Today will be the last day for several weeks of me being able  to jump on a horse and let their smell and company wash away all the troubles in the world. Each and every one of these wise and soulful creatures brings so much to me, who I am,  and make me feel alive and well.  I watch sweet Nemo as  if he is my son. He can be a brat, pushy and relentless, but then he walks over and stands in front of me. He looks at me with those expressive eyes and my heart is overwhelmed with love for this creature who was given to me on a cold March day.  How will I ever be able to let someone else be his Mom? He runs in the round pen, with his tail in the air, nostrils flaring and catches ever cue I give him. He calls out to Aria and she paces watching that her little friend is okay.  I finish his training and ask for a bow, he gladly obeys waiting for his cookie and scratch on his head. This is the life I have always wanted, the peaceful night, horses all around me. A black stallion who completed a life long dream, Finny who is slowly recovering from the eye injury.  Eddy, and Blondie  still working on their bond, but we know that Uncle Eddy will watch over the little ones. He takes that task very serious, and Nemo knows where he is at all times.  The daylight is getting shorter as fall comes on,  leaves  starting to change. So for now we have to grab all the light with the horses we can get.  So this morning, we will head over the see the horses at the Schwartz’s. Spend some morning time with them, feed and love on them for a while, just enjoy that they allow us to share the morning mist with their  presence,  this is like a  fix for an addiction and causes a high that is hard for most to understand,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
