Today we drove to a nearby state park on a whim and were pleasantly surprised to find the best riding location of the summer. Chippokes Plantation, located in Surry, VA, is a beautiful 1,600+ acre plantation turned state park bordering the historic James River. The temperature was perfect… mid-70’s with a refreshing breeze, and the scenery was the richest, most vivid green you can image, topped by heavenly blue skies. The twelve foot wide level grassy trails meander around the endless miles of cotton, corn, and soybean fields. H.T. and Kowboy, our handsome mounts, indulged themselves in every species of grass available. We rode for over three hours at a good pace, covering about 10 miles. Check out the great photos on the riding adventures page. We can’t wait to go back!
